RideHoppy collects some Personal Data from its Users.  This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data, as well as your rights regarding that data.  This document includes sections dedicated to specific privacy right for users in California, Virginia. Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Brazil, which can be referenced using the print command in your browser’s settings.

RideHoppy collects the following types of Personal Data, either directly from you or through third parties:

• Internet or Network Activity Information: Usage Data (e.g., interactions with the app, pages visited, time spent), IP address, device information.
• Social Network Data: Information from linked social media accounts (e.g., connections, relationship strengths), if you choose to connect them.
• Service Request Data: Visual data (e.g., photos or “Snaps” of service needs), metadata (e.g., service category, location, timing), and preferences provided with service requests.
• Rating Data: Feedback and ratings provided by users about service providers or customers.
• Background Check Data: Full name, date of birth, Social Security Number (optional), driver’s license number, address history, collected from service providers for background screening purposes.

Personal Data may be freely provided by you (e.g., when submitting a service request or linking a social media account) or collected automatically (e.g., Usage Data when using RideHoppy). Unless specified as optional, all requested Data is mandatory to provide our services. Failure to provide mandatory Data may prevent RideHoppy from functioning fully. Where Data is optional, this will be clearly stated, and opting out will not affect service availability. Users uncertain about mandatory Data can contact us at the email above.

RideHoppy may use Cookies or other tracking tools to provide services and for purposes outlined in this policy and our Cookie Policy. Users are responsible for any third-party Personal Data they obtain, publish, or share through RideHoppy.

Mode and Place of Processing the Data

Methods of Processing
We process Personal Data using computers and IT tools, following strict organizational procedures aligned with the purposes below. We implement appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction of your Data. Data may be accessible to internal staff (e.g., administration, technical support) or external parties (e.g., hosting providers, IT vendors) acting as Data Processors, appointed as needed. An updated list of these parties is available upon request.

Place
Data is processed at our operating offices in the United States and in locations where our service providers operate. Depending on your location, Data transfers may occur across borders. See the “Detailed Information” section for more on international transfers.

Retention Time
Personal Data is stored for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected (e.g., fulfilling a service request or maintaining your account) and may be retained longer if required by law or with your consent. Specific retention periods are detailed below under each purpose.

1. Provide Our Service: Match customers with service providers using our matching engine, social validation module, and algorithmic optimization unit, as described in our platform’s functionality.
2. Enhance Trust and Reputation: Facilitate a dual-rating system and leverage social network connections for validation and trust-building.
3. Improve the Platform: Use machine learning to refine matching accuracy based on historical data, user behavior, and successful outcomes.
4. Communicate with Users: Manage contacts, send service-related messages, and enable direct communication between customers and providers.
5. Comply with Legal Obligations: Respond to legal requests or protect our rights and interests.
6. Support Social Features: Enable referrals and network effects via social media integration.
7. Background Screening: Verify service providers’ eligibility and enhance platform trust through third-party background checks.

Background Screening

Users acknowledge that background checks are provided by third-party services and have inherent limitations. Background checks may not reveal all relevant information about an individual’s history, character, or propensity for future conduct. A successful background check does not constitute an endorsement by RideHoppy of any User and does not guarantee that such User will perform services safely, competently, or lawfully. Users should not rely solely on background check results when making decisions about service providers and should exercise independent judgment in all interactions.

• Purpose: Conduct background checks on service providers to ensure safety and trust.
• Data Used: Background Check Data (e.g., full name, date of birth, Social Security Number if provided, driver’s license number, address history).
• Retention: Retained only as long as necessary to complete the check and onboard the provider, then deleted or anonymized unless required by law or Checkr’s terms.
• Processors: Checkr, a third-party background check provider (see their privacy policy at https://checkr.com/legal/privacy-policy )

Detailed Information on the Processing of Personal Data

1. Hosting and Backend Infrastructure

• Purpose: Ensure RideHoppy operates reliably.
• Data Used: Identifiers, Usage Data, IP address, device information.
• Retention: As long as your account is active or as needed for service continuity.
• Processors: Third-party hosting providers (list available upon request).

2. Registration and Authentication

• Purpose: Create and manage user accounts.
• Data Used: First name, last name, email address, phone number.
• Retention: Until account deletion, unless legally required otherwise.

3. Managing Contacts and Sending Messages

• Purpose: Notify users of matches, service updates, or direct communications.
• Data Used: Email address, phone number, service request metadata.
• Retention: Until the service request is completed or communication is no longer needed.

4. Social Features

• Purpose: Enhance matching and trust via social network integration.
• Data Used: Social network data (e.g., connections, referral patterns), if linked.
• Retention: As long as linked or until you revoke access.

5. Service Matching and Optimization

• Purpose: Connect customers and providers using weighted parameters (e.g., location, social connections, ratings).
• Data Used: Service request data, rating data, social network data, Usage Data.
• Retention: Historical data retained indefinitely for machine learning, anonymized where possible.

Legal Basis of Processing

We process Personal Data under the following legal bases:

• Consent: Where you agree (e.g., linking social media accounts, consenting to background checks).
• Contract: To fulfill our service agreement with you (e.g., matching requests, onboarding service providers with background checks).
• Legal Obligation: To comply with laws or authorities.
• Legitimate Interests: To improve our platform or protect our rights, provided your rights are not overridden.

Retention Time Details

• Account Data: Retained until you delete your account, then archived for legal purposes if required (e.g., 7 years for tax records).
• Service Request Data: Kept until the service is completed, then anonymized for optimization unless you consent to longer retention.
• Social Network Data: Retained only while linked and removed upon disconnection.
• Usage Data: Kept indefinitely in anonymized form for platform improvement.

Data is deleted or anonymized after the retention period unless you consent otherwise or law requires retention.

User Rights (GDPR and Beyond)

Under the GDPR and similar laws (e.g., CCPA, VCDPA), you may:

• Withdraw Consent: Revoke consent where applicable.
• Access Data: Request confirmation and copies of your Data.
• Rectify Data: Correct inaccurate Data.

Categories Collected: Identifiers, internet activity information, service request data, rating data, social network data (if linked).
Purposes: Service provision, trust-building, platform improvement.
Sharing: With hosting providers, IT vendors, and social media platforms (if linked) for business purposes. No “sale” or “sharing” for advertising occurs unless opted into via social features.
Rights: Opt out of sale/sharing, request access/deletion/correction. Contact us or use the privacy choices link on RideHoppy. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals.

FCRA Rights: If a background check affects your eligibility as a service provider, you will receive a copy of the report and a summary of your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) from Checkr, including options to dispute inaccurate information.

Further Information for Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah Consumers

Categories Collected: Same as above.
Purposes: Same as above. No targeted advertising unless opted into via social features.
Sharing: Same as above; may constitute a “sale” under some laws.
Rights: Opt out of sale/targeted advertising, access, delete, correct, portability. Contact us or use the privacy choices link. GPC supported where applicable.
